Public transportation in Prague

The cheapest way how to travel around Prague is to use a public transport.
Basic transfer ticket is for 32 CZK/person and is valid for 90 minutes. It can be purchased in Ticket machine, Newsagents, etc. Remember to valide it before you use a public transport (yellow devices placed inside the vehicle or at the entrance to metro station). This ticket allows you to use all means of public transport (tram, bus, metro, Petrin funicular and selected Czech Railway suburban lines).
 
Fares in Prague:
The tariffs are divided into zones P and O. For you are mainly important the zone P including: trams, buses, metro, Petrin funicular and selected Czech Railway lines.

How to get from the Prague airport to the city center:
Prague airport is located about 15km from the city center. You have several options how to get to the downtown. Using either public transport, taxi pick up previously arranged (we offer it for 590 CZK / 4 persons or for 950 CZK / 8 persons) or taxi.

If you need to go to the city center the best bus for you is no. 119 (running approx. from 4:30 am till 11:30 pm) – heading from the Prague airport to Nadrazi Veleslavin (metro station, green line A) which is the last stop of the bus.
Total time - 30-40 min (20min in the bus, 10-20 min in metro, depends where exactly you are heading)
Total cost  - 32 CZK per person

Other bus which you can use is no. 100 (running approx. from 5:30 till 11:30 pm) - heading from the Prague airport to Zlicin (subway station, yellow line B) which is the last stop of the bus.
Total time - 30-40 min (15 min in the bus, 20 - 25 min in metro, depends where exactly are you heading)
Total cost -  32 CZK per person

There are other buses as well: 179, 225
Please note - the metro is not operating during night! (closed 00:30am - 4:30am)

At late night you can take a nigh bus no. 510 (running approx. from midnight till 4 am) heading from the Prague airport and you have to get off at station Divoka Sarka. Than you have to change to the night tram no. 51 to go to the city center.
Total time - 40-45 min (10 min in the bus, 30 – 35 min in tram, depends where exactly are you heading)
Total cost -  32 CZK per person


Taxi :
Please ask the driver for the price before you entering the car. For your orientation if your charming hotel is in the centre of the Prague, the price has to be no more than around CZK 700.

Prague Metro (Subway) :
Prague Metro has three lines, consist of about 50km track - mostly running underground.

The green line A is running from the west to east (Nemocnice Motol, Petriny, Nadrazi Veleslavin, Borislavka, Hradcanska, Malostranska, Staromestska, Mustek, Muzeum, Namesti Miru, Jiriho z Podebrad, Flora, Zelivskeho, Strasnicka, Skalka, Depo Hostivar)

The yellow line B is running from the west to east (Zlicin, Stodulky, Luka, Luziny, Hurka, Nove Butovice, Jinonice, Radlicka, Smichovske nadrazi, Andel, Karlovo namesti, Narodni trida, Mustek, Namesti Republiky, Florenc, Krizikova, Invalidovna, Palmovka, Ceskomoravska, Vysocanska, Kolbenova, Hloubetin, Rajska zahrada, Cerny Most)

The red line C is running from the south to north (Haje, Opatov, Chodov, Roztyly, Kacerov, Budejovicka, Pankrac, Prazskeho povstani, Vysehrad, I.P. Pavlova, Muzeum, Hlavni nadrazi, Florenc, Vltavska, Nadrazi Holesovice, Kobylisy, Ladvi, Strizkov, Prosek, Letnany)
*Stations in bold are centrally located.

Florenc – line B and C
Mustek – line A and B
Muzeum – line A and C

Hradcanska – 10 – 15 min walk from garden of Prague Castle - Belvedere (also called Kralovsky letohradek), where you can catch tram n. 22 which can gets you to Prague Castle.

Malostranska – under Prague Castle (you can climb steps there), transfer station for trams n. 18, 20 and 22 (no. 22 is heading to Prague Castle - direction Bila Hora)

Staromestska – from here you can go by walk to visit Rudolfinum, The Old – New Synagogue or the Old Town square. It is a transfer station for trams n. 17, 18 (no. 18 is heading to Charles Bridge – trams stop Karlovy Lazne - direction to Vozovna Pankrac)

Mustek – situated in the lower part of Wenceslas Square, 10 min walk from Old Town square. Transfer station of line A and B

Muzeum – transfer station for of line A and C. Situated in the upper part of Wenceslas Square, 2 min walk from National museum

Namesti Miru – transfer station for trams no. 4, 10, 16 and 22 (no. 22 is heading through the whole city center to the Lesser Town and Prague Castle - direction Bila Hora)

Jiriho z Podebrad – is near to Zizkov TV Tower, transfer station for tram no. 11 (no. 11 is heading to National museum at the Wenceslas Square - direction to Sporilov)

Metro yellow line B
Andel – transfer station for trams no. 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 20 (no. 9 is heading to National Theatre – direction to Spojovaci). The second exit will get you to Na Knizeci, buses to Cesky Krumlov are running from here - http://www.charming-krumlov-hotels.com/)

Karlovo namesti – transfer station for trams no. 3, 4, 6, 10, 14, 16, 18, 22, 24 (no. 18 is heading through the whole city center to National Theatre, Charles Bridge, Rudolfinum – direction to Petriny, no. 9 is heading to National Theatre – direction Sidliste Repy, no. 24 is heading to Wencelas Square – direction to Kobylisy)

Narodni trida – situated 10 min walk from National Theatre. Transfer station for trams no. 6, 9, 18, 21, 22 (no. 6, 9, 18, 21, 22 heading to National Theatre, no. 18 is heading to Charles Bridge and Rudolfinum)

Mustek – situated in the lower part of Wenceslas Square, 10 min walk from Old Town square. Transfer station of line A and B

Namestí Republiky – situated in very center of Prague, close to Obecni dum. Second exit will get you to the Masarykovo train station. Transfer station for trams no. 8, 14, 26 (no. 26 is heading to Main Train Station – direction to Ustredni dilny DP, no. 14 is heading to Wenceslas Square – direction to Sidliste Barrandov)

Florenc – transfer station of line B and C. Transfer station of trams no. 8, 24 (no. 24 is heading to Wenceslas Square – direction to Kubanske namesti). The biggest bus station is situated here as well.

Metro red line C
Nadrazi Holesovice – transfer station for trams no. 5, 12, 14 (no. 14 is heading to Wenceslas Square – direction to Sidliste Barrandov)

Vltavska – transfer station for trams no. 1, 3, 5, 25 (no. 3 is heading to Wenceslas Square – direction to Levskeho, no. 5 is heading to Main train station – direction to Olsanske hrbitovy)

Florenc – transfer station of line B and C. Transfer station of trams no. 8, 24 (no. 24 is heading to Wenceslas Square – direction to Kubanske namesti). The biggest bus station is situated here as well.

Hlavni nadrazi – Main train station. Transfer station for trams no. 5, 9, 26 (no. 9 is heading to Wenceslas Square, National Theatre – direction to Sidliste Repy, no. 26 is heading to Namesti Republiky – direction to Divoka Sarka)

Muzeum – transfer station for of line A and C. Situated in the upper part of Wenceslas Square, 2 min walk from National museum

I. P. Pavlova – transfer station for trams no. 4, 6, 10, 11, 16, 22 (no. 6 is heading to National Theatre – direction to Kotlarka, no. 11 is heading to upper part of Wenceslas Square – direction to Cernokostelecka, no. 22 is heading through the whole city center to the Lesser Town and Prague Castle - direction Bila Hora)

Buses in Prague city center:
There are two buses running close to the city center
n. 133 – stops close to city center are: Staromestska, Pravnicka fakulta, Dlouha trida, Namesti Republiky, Bila Labut and Florenc
n. 176 – stop close to city center is: Karlovo namesti

Please note the subway is closed from midnight till 5am!!!
 
There are many tram links going through the city center. The main transfer station for all night trams is Lazarská (all the trams stops here). The running interval is around 30 – 60 min. Other alternative is night buses.
