Prague hotel At the Red Lion is in an ancient burgher house situated in the historical centre of the city, straight on the "Royal Route" in close vicinity of the main entrance gate to Prague Castle.

The first written records of the house date back in the 15th century.
The preserved basement rooms are from the Gothic period. Renaissance style is manifested in the the painted beam ceilings while the entrance portal is the result of the Baroque reconstruction of the house. Later adaptations brought new architectural elements, among which are quite outstanding the classicist ones. Particularly unique is the house facade being connected with the famous 17th century altar painter Peter Brandl, who was born and lived in the house. The last reconstruction in 1994-95 faitfully preserved the historical character of the building.
